About this Cook
I've been cooking for my family by myself since I was in 6th grade. I only started to really try other types of cooking since 11th grade in highschool.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking cookies and cakes. Also love to just cook generally everything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making dinner. I usually make dinner at home for me and my parents. Also our weekend BBQs with family and our huge Thanksgiving lunch in which i make everything else, but the turkey. We usually get a smoked turkey ;]
My cooking triumphs
Making my chocolate chip cookies for my relatives without a measuring cup or spoon. came out AWESOME! Now for some reason I cannot replicate it ;p
My cooking tragedies
taking 6 hours to make a dinner. ugh!

Simple But Awesome Lemon Pepper Pork Chops
I didnt give it a 4 because it could be tweaked as follows: Rub lemon pepper (fresh is better!) on the chops. Sear pork chops with oil until golden brown on both sides. Place in buttered cassarole dish. top with pad of butter and worcestershire. top dish with a piece of foil. Bake in preheated oven until to desired doneness. The dish will turn out moist and delicious and not that icky white looking piece of meat in the picture.

Grandma's Egg Custard Pie
I forget how much I hate egg custards. So when making the scorched milk, I added a vanilla bean, halved and scraped. Picked out the pods while waiting for the milk to cool. Made the custard and it was enough filling to fill 2 pie crusts with. Then baked it and had to bake it longer then said while the crust was burning. So the second one I baked, I covered the crust with foil to prevent burning and also turned down the heat. When I finally had a taste, it tasted like scrambled eggs with a vanilla taste. The pie crust was good though because all the vanilla beans fell to the bottom and settled on the crust. I'm still looking for a recipe that will make me like egg custard pies.

Barbequed Thai Style Chicken
The chicken was decent. I did it with chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts. Finding Tumeric was like trying to find soy margarine, so I doubled up on the curry powder. After tasting it, the chicken was rather bland and didnt really taste like what I thought it would. Maybe if I find tumeric, I'll try it again, but instead of BBQing them, I'll use the oven.
