I am 24 years old and I absolutely love to cook! My brothers always come over asking,"What's new on the menu this week, sis?" I am always trying something different and my boyfriend loves it too because he gets to be the guinea pig! I don't have any children yet, but I can't wait till I do so I can create healthy recipes for children that they love and are good for them too. I have 2 Lab mixes, they are sisters, Dakota and Maya. I am thankful that they have high metabolisms because they would roly poly dogs because of how much they get to eat when mom's cooking. They just sit at my feet watching me and waiting for anything to drop, not that thats unique for dog owners! LOL!
My favorite things to cook
My favorite dishes to make are Italian. There is no better smell than oregano and garlic. It's so hearty and cozy and hard to resist. I am always looking for new Italian dishes and ways to perfect them in my own way. I also look for ways to make them healthier for healthier living.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is addicted to grilling! Hamburgers, hotdogs and brats! When it hits summertime, its grilling season. My family also enjoys deep fried whole chickens and turkeys. They would never go back to oven baked chicken and turkey. My dad is always conjuring up new marinades and rubs for the meat too.
My cooking triumphs
I would have to say the best dish I have ever made is the Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream. It was absolutey delicious. I am also a champ at baking Banana Bread and Cinnamon Raisin Bread.
My cooking tragedies
I made this stew one time. I thought,"How else are recipes created if you don't just start throwing things together?" Bad Idea. For me anyway. I decided I was going to bring about my knowledge of making soups and stew and whatnot, and started putting in the water and what spices I wanted in this pot. I put in stew steak chunks, onions, green peppers and potatoes. Then I started going hogwild. I couldn't stop putting things in this pot! So, I then decided to add tomatoes and rice. When I was done, (not to mention I using the wrong pot) the rice had burned and it just tasted awful! It tasted like a burnt leather shoe with beef boullion in the sole and cooked on high in the microwave. It was dreadful. But hey, you live and learn right?
