My Kids
About this Cook
I am a proud parent of two children, Emma,8 and Nicholas, 18 months.
My favorite things to cook
I just love to cook. I like to try new recipes everyday, and eventually I go back and make them again, changing anything I think is necessary to make it that much better.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We never really had any cooking traditions in the family......Since I started my own family, I have tried to incoperate some traditions of my own that I hope my children will continue on.
My cooking triumphs
Anything that I have made that doesn't need any tweeking is a triumph in my book!
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make "ranch chicken" once....followed the recipe accordingly....YUCK! It tasted like I cooked the chicken in some kind of chemical cleaner! Needless to say, we ate out that night!

White Cheese Sauce
With some changes, this cheese sauce was great! For starters I only used 1/2 the amount of butter called for. I added 1/2 cup flour, wisking it together with the melted butter, then slowly added 1 cup milk (while cooking on LOW heat). Once that was smooth and creamy, I added the cheese, chilies and sour cream. I stirred it often and it is IMPORTANT to cook it slowly on LOW heat. It will take awhile to become a creamy consistancy. I almost gave up, it looked grainy and just not good, but I gave it a little more time and it was perfect!

Chocolate Mousse Pie
This was delicious! I have never had a chocolate mousse pie before, but I will definatly make it again. I took the suggestion of some of the reviews and chilled it over night. It was perfect, and the almond extract made a huge difference in this pie. I cant imagine it without!

Strawberry Pretzel Pie
This is the perfect combination of sweet and salty! Alot of the other reviewers suggested crushing the pretzels more finely, but I disagree. I think the crust was great. The only suggestions I have is to use fresh strwberries, sliced and frozen and double the cream cheese layer for a 9x13 pan.
