Cinnabun Cookies

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
So this recipe is great. It did make me laugh though. I used to work for Borders (the bookstore) and they used to bake cinnamon scones in their cafes that tasted exactly like this cookie! I would change two things with this recipe... I would add cinnamon chips in next time and not bother with the rolling, instead I would make them into small triangles. They would make perfect cinnamon scones!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
I have never been very good at pancakes but this recipe was pretty good. I was a little unsure because the batter was so thick but the pancakes turned out great. I did add a little vanilla but other than that kept the recipe the same. Blackberries were on sale at my local Fresh Market so I did a quick blackberry reduction with some lemon juice and sugar... went great with the pancakes and some fresh blackberries on top. I will probably try out a few other pancake recipes but this one will be a fixture in my book.

Seafood Chowder

Reviewed: May 19, 2009
It's a chilly rainy night and this seafood chowder recipe along with some homemade brown bread was amazing! I have to say I did make a few adjustments. I took out the calamari tubes because I don't like them and added clam juice instead of the liquid that was in with the corn. I also added some red pepper flakes and thyme. I love the flavor of thyme with seafood and it was perfect in this recipe. Next time I make this I will add more clams and clam juice as well as some haddock. I think the haddock will add a really nice texture and flavor. Lastly, I made the chowder as I was making bread so I let the chowder simmer for quite some time, I think this helped with the flavors and textures of the seafood. Wonderful. I will definitely make this again.

Key Lime Cookies I

Reviewed: May 13, 2009
This recipe is pretty good! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it is not a super decadent cookie. It's quite refreshing though. I live in Florida where I can buy nice fresh key lime juice which really helped this cookie. I did however use fresh lime zest in place of dried lime zest. I also took the cookies out at 9 minutes before they got a chance to brown. I prefer my cookies on the chewy side. These cookies go great with a nice seasonal summer beer!! Great to bring to a bbq or cookout. I will be making these again. Maybe next time I will add some key lime cream cheese frosting in between them and make a sandwich cookie!

Gooey Brownies with Shortbread Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
This recipe has been great for me. The shortbread crust is super easy to make. To make the recipe even easier I use a box brownie mix instead of making them from scratch. They look amazing when done and taste great. I am now trying different kinds of brownies on top of the crust. I went to a friends house the other night and brought the brownies with me. Everyone loved them and thought I spent hours in the kitchen making them. Next I am going to try flavoring the shortbread crust. I think peppermint with the brownies on top would make a great holiday treat!

No Bake Cookies V

I made these as part of a work holiday party potluck. My coworkers gobbled them up. This is a great quick cookie recipe when you just want to add a litle something more to your dessert table.

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
This is an average recipe. If you are looking for a good cookie recipe for perfect decorating cookies this is it. The flavor of them just wasn't there for me. I have a different sugar cookie recipe that I have always used and I'll be sticking with that one.

Zucchini Brownies

Wonderful recipe. I follow it exactly EXCEPT instead of regular milk in the frosting I use Vanilla Soy because that is all I keep on hand. The brownies and frosting always turn out wonderful. My boyfriend and his vegetarian brother ask for them all the time. I hope everyone else enjoys this as much as we do!!

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
I made this tonight along with a garlic french fry recipe. The entire dinner was great. My boyfriend and I loved the veggie burgers. I forgot to get the chili powder so I put a little extra of the thai sauce in. Other than that I followed the recipe and it came out wonderful. I baked the burgers, toasted some whole wheat buns and then topped the burgers with homemade guacamole, fresh tomato, shredded colby jack cheese and a little fresh onion. I will definitely be making this recipe again. :-)

Baked Macaroni and Cheese I

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
I haven't made baked mac n cheese in a long time and honestly didn't have a good reipe for it anymore. This one works great! I followed the recipe and added a few extra spices (black pepper, seasoned salt) an it came out perfect. I did have to bake it for about 25 minutes to get the cheese to brown on top and ended up turing on the broiler for a minute to crisp up the cheese (yum) My boyfriend and I both loved it. It was even better the second day for lunch reheated!
