I am originally from Virginia but joined the military when I was 19. Needless to say, I traveled a lot and in that time, I got to sample a lot of different types of food. My all time favorite is pretty much anything Mediterranean. I grew up cooking a lot. My mom didn't really cook so most of what I learned was from my dad. I currently have a two year old son who helps me out in the kitchen so hopefully his will stay interested and I will be able to teach him all recipes my dad taught me.
My favorite things to cook
Homemade pizza, lamb, biscuits from scratch, pumpkin bread, fried apples,
My cooking triumphs
Finding any foods that my husband and son will actually eat. They are such picky eaters it is always a triumph when I find something we all like.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I made a ham, not a precooked one, I didn't realize how long it took to cook. I started it way too late and we ended up going to Burger King that night instead.
Once I accidentally grabbed nutmeg instead of cinnamon while making a batch of oatmeal cookies. Those were some very interesting oatmeal cookies.
