About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, especially super easy cakes that look complicated but really arent.
My favorite family cooking traditions
making ginger bread houses and sugared peanuts at christmas time with friends and dyeing easter eggs with the same people every year.
My cooking triumphs
Coconut cake, I actually got the recipie from here and modified it to make a layered cake. I am now required to bring it for every family function.
My cooking tragedies
lemonade cake. It came out half perfect and half soup! I just sliced the good half and served it on a plate, no one knew there was ever a problem!

Country Green Beans
I substituted low sodium chicken broth for the water and bacon for the ham. Turned out perfect! Thanks so much for a non-boring way to eat green beans : )

Janet's Rich Banana Bread
Very good banana bread- the only tweak I made was that like a lot of other reviewers, I mashed the bananas instead of slicing them- I personally don't like chunks of fruit in my bread. Otherwise I followed the recipe exactly and it was great!

Garlic and Onion Burgers
I made these for a cookout last summer and now that it is getting warm again, my friends have been requesting these. They are super easy to make, just make sure to follow the suggestion about chilling them for a few hours prior to cooking them- it really enhances the flavor.
