About this Cook
I love fresh fruit and vegetables, healthly foods rich in anti-oxidants and vitamins. Wish there were more healthy recipes available on the site, not just seemingly better than average.
My favorite things to cook
I love making quick breads, fresh salsa, and any type of mexican style dish. I especially love to experiment with new things on this site.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We love making things fresh or from scratch, always using the best ingredients available; not skimping or cutting back whenever possible to bring the very best we have to offer to the table, even if it means traveling from store to store. We go to farmers markets or sometimes directly to their door to purchase the finest produce available in the area. We even buy our eggs from local farmers and milk when it is available. Whatever it takes to give our family the best, at least that's the way my mom did for me; and I can't see doing it any other way.

Chewy Peanut Butter Brownies
This recipe was just ok. My family seemed to like it, but they aren't that picky. They will try anything. I was looking for something more chewy and brownie-like and less cake-like. The flavor wasn't that great either. It tasted more like very heavy and rich cake that was missing something. It definitely needed more peanut butter and less flour. I don't know what would've happened if I hadn't of added the chocolate chips melted on top at the end. That really salvaged the flavor somewhat.

Sherbet Shower Surprise
This punch was really easy and tasted great! We used Dole canned pineapple mango juice and raspberry sherbet. Everyone went back for seconds and thirds.

Banana Banana Bread
I was very surprised at how good this recipe turned out. I used part whole wheat pastry flour and it was still excellent. Didn't have enough butter so subbed some for oil. I did add pecans to one of the loaves that I made except my pecans were already chopped very small and it didn't turn out as moist as the other loaf from the same batch with the pecans. I think that it would have been fine if they weren't chopped so finely (but that was what I had in the freezer). Anyway, so if you want to try a good recipe and not waste time, this is a good place to start.
