About this Cook
I was born in Wisconsin, but have spent most of my lfe in TX. WI is still considered home.
My favorite things to cook
Use the recipes from my grandmother. She was a professionsl cook and has some great recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holidays at my grandparents house. My aunts would help my grandparents cook the meals and then we would all gather around the table that spanned two rooms with my grandmother on one end and grandfather on the other.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I cooked a turkey for Thanksgiving.
My cooking tragedies
When I was a teenager I tried to make cornbread froom scratch and forgot to put in the baking soda. You could use it as door stoppers.

Rhubarb and Strawberry Pie
This was awesome. I used a 16oz bag of frozen rhubarb as well as a 16oz bag of frozen whole srawberries since that is what I had in the freezer. I think that it is important to let the rhubarb/srawberry/sugar/flour mixture to sit for 30 mins before pouring into the pie crusts. I allowed it to cool in the oven for about 30 as suggested and then cut it the next morning and it was not runny. Tastes just like my grandmother used to make. Thanks.

Supreme Scalloped Potatoes
To save some time I cut the potatoes up then boiled them in the Dutch oven. Drained the water. Poured the mixture over the potatoes and added the cheese and baked. It was awesome even for my picky teenage son!!!! Will have again.

Old-Fashioned Scalloped Corn
Followed the recipe the way it was written and it turned out very runny and was really nothing special. Upon looking at the other reviews will try some of the other suggestions and try again. Always willingly to try a few times and doctor it up a little.
