About this Cook
I'm very in tune with all of my senses. I'm an audio producer by trade, and I love it. I spend my free time split between having a camera in my hand, cooking or baking and trying new recipes, and getting outside to walk or bike whenever I get the chance.
My favorite things to cook
I've been baking homemade bread since early 2007 and am eager to find new, healthy recipes to mix things up. I love cooking my turkey chili during colder months, although now that I live in Arizona we will have chili in warm months since we aren't given the option. I've been happy to find lots of options in fresh fruit so we've had some delicious smoothies, too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad was a professional chef, and although he was only allowed to mess up the kitchen and go all-out for the holidays, those meals were amazing. My mom's simple everyday meals were a good base for me to use to spruce up for more interesting dinners.
My cooking tragedies
I've had disaster-breads, disaster-dinners, whatever. My husband says that you're not really cooking unless there's a chance you might fail.

Maple Oatmeal Bread
Great flavor, tear-apart texture and a crispy crust. Even after cooling it is hard to slice because the bread is so soft, but I'm afraid to make it any denser because it really is the nearly-perfect loaf of bread. I might cut back ever-so-slightly on the amount of yeast to see if that helps, but really, why mess with a good thing?

Whole Wheat Bread III
This is the best bread recipe I've ever tried, and it's good to know that healthy stuff is going into what we eat everyday. I substitute 1 of the TBSP of margarine for 3 TBSP of flaxseed to give it an extra boost of healthy stuff. Subbing more than 2 TBSP margarine for flaxseed results in a denser bread, so I wouldn't recommend that.

Cracked Wheat Bread I
Cracked wheat gives a little crunch to this bread, great for sandwiches. Instead of 3 cups bread flour, I used 1 1/3 cup bread flour, 1/3 cup cornmeal and an additional 1 2/3 cup whole wheat flour (2 cups whole wheat flour total).
