i'm a 22 year old military wife from jacksonville beach, florida. We live on seymour-johnson air force base in north carolina. I dont mind it here but i definately miss my old beach town. Southern food! Fried chicken, cornbread, and plenty of vegetables! I also love seafood but havent quite mastered it like the rest of my family. My all time favorite plate would consist of fried shrimp, coleslaw and hot hushpuppies. yum! my family is irish so we definately love our potatoes! every thanksgiving we have a whole crockpot full of mashed potatoes. also every christmas brunch we have cheesy potato casserole as our main dish. i love potatoes so i'm not complaning! truffles! i thought they would be complicated but they really were not. i made all my family some as an extra christmas gift this year. I baked my first cake (with out my mother hovering over my shoulder) i attempted to take it out of the pan to place on the cooling rack. Well it completely fell apart! all over the stove, counter and floor. what was so sad was it was a delicious cake. it was the best i had ever made. i guess i'll let it cool properly from now on!
