Hawaiian Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2009
Excellent. I was so bored with regular banana bread and this was perfect. I omitted the cherries and the nuts though. Definitely will become my regular banana bread recipe. (I used the Ikea loaf pans- longer and narrower.)

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2008
This is really fabulous! I wanted to use up my zucchini but not in the usual way. This is so yummy! I followed the recipe almost to the letter, changing the pan size (I used 2 IKEA loaf pans.) I sprinkled cinnamon sugar on top, since we all LOVE cinnamon. I also used frozen blueberries, stirring them into the flour before adding it to the wet ingredients. No problem. You could change the recipe a bit to make it more healthy, but this was delicious!!!

Hot Fudge Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2008
WOW! So good! It's perfect and SO simple to make. The only problem I had was, where I live, I only find 11oz cans, so I used 1&1/2 cans. I used 2/3 cup chips instead of ounces and in the microwave at 80% power for less than 2 minutes. My chocoholic daughter ate this like soup. The only change I would make for next time is DOUBLE it!!

Black Tea Lemonade

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2008
I have been looking for a black tea lemonade recipe, instead of always going to Starbucks for one. I made this exactly like it said. Next time I will use 5 tea bags to make it stronger, I found the lemonade a bit overwelming. Sugar amount was good. I will definitely make this again. It's a great non-alcoholic alternative.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
This was as good as everyone says. It's nice not to have to buy the seasoning anymore. I added a bit of water to the meat to keep it moist. I copied it exactly but lessened the salt, just to cut back on the sodium and it was good.

Lemon Sauce I

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2007
Very lemony flavour, very runny. Next time I will try 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and see how it goes. Very easy to make. I used it over angel food cake. I also used regular nutmeg, will try fresh next time to see if it makes a difference. Not a very yellowy colour either but the zest looks pretty.

Spicy Bean Salsa

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2007
This is really good! I made this based on the many reviews and I couldn't stop eating it. The colour is fabulous! However, I did change a few things too. I omitted the Italian dressing, instead used 2 T. olive oil (heated 1 minute in the microwave with 2 minced cloves of garlic), added 1/4 cup fresh lime juice. Also added 1 tsp cumin and a small handful of chopped fresh cilantro. I would definitely recommend using fresh roma tomatoes(about 6)instead of canned, and fresh jalapenos(I used 2, add more for more heat)1 can of (black)beans is enough too, as one reviewer said. This makes a good 6 cups. I also ate it the same day I made it, just sat for 2 hours and it still was good.

Oma's German Marble Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2007
Very yummy! Not dry at all. I changed a few things. I lessened the flour to 3 cups, added 1 tsp. vanilla and added 1 more tbsp. baking cocoa. I didn't mix it for 10 minutes, I just watched until it turned lighter coloured. I used a bundt pan, greased and floured it. Baked it for 50 minutes. No problem coming out of the pan. Added a dusting of powdered sugar. Very similar to my mom's but this one wasn't dry :) Absolutely will make again.
