Pecan Filled Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
A very good cookie. I didn't have any problems with sticky dough but the cookie is a little too boring to be considered "the Best!" Maybe drizzling it with caramel or chocolate as others have suggested would push it up a notch?

One of my husband's standard favorites now. I do thicken the sauce with cornstarch or flour (mixed with water first). Quick and easy~

This is okay - we eat it, but there are other recipes we like better.

It was eaten, but the left-overs weren't :( Okay recipe.

Miss Betty's Super Quick Dinner Rolls

Wow- so easy and so good. I didn't have self-raising flour so I added the baking powder and salt. These do have more of a biscuit flavor and texture, but lighter.

Soft Chocolate Cookies

Wow! Fantastic. I didn't even refrigerate them and I added a cup of pecans. No icing is necessary. The light sprinkling of powdered sugar on the top makes them pretty.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Perfect, my husband loves it and even cracks pecans when he wants a loaf. I don't care for banana bread, but I like this one.

This cake is very good, but it's not the best. I thought it was a little dry.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
This is not an easy recipe to do if you are not good at working with melting chocolate so I gave it 3 stars because of the messy difficulty of the recipe. I did follow the directions for melting chocolate on the package - recommend you NOT do this, but go ahead and add the shortening, it makes the chocolate thinner and smoother. I did this the for the white chocolate batch and they were much better, but still difficult. Also, the styrofoam thing didn't work for me and the wax paper was messy. Still, even though these weren't perfect or very pretty, everyone at the party raved and ate them all up! I just thought it was a difficult to execute and messy project.

Chocolate Billionaires

Good, but chocolate turned chalky when cooled. Carmel clumps were difficult to dip in the melted chocolate for a "pretty" presentation.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Easy and tastes great. I used the paper bag method suggested by another reviewer to mix the carmel and popcorn. I also kept the oven at 200 degrees as recommended by other reviewers.

Mom's Best Peanut Brittle

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2008
I doubled the recipe and wouldn't recommend doing that. The peanut brittle is good, but very hard to spread. Also it took a very long time to get the mixture to the right temperature, but it did eventually get there, so be patient if yours takes a long time.

Cream Cheese Cookies I

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
Very, very good! I even used margarine instead of butter. I don't have a cookie press, so I didn't try that. I basically scooped the dough out with a melon-baller and flattened each ball a little. Then I made a dent in the center and filled it with strawberry jam. Everyone loved the cookies. I will make them again!

Absolute Best Liver and Onions

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
My husband just loves this recipe and requests I cook it often. The rest of my family, however, cannot stomach liver and this recipe still tastes like liver no matter what other reviewers state. Liver lovers will love it. If you don't like liver, this won't convert you.

Buttery Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2008
These were really good - I forgot to add the eggs and they still worked! I used the method with the kichen-aid and hook attachment because I don't have a bread-maker either. I'll probably update my review after I make this recipe WITH the eggs. Oh I had to adjust the amount because packets of yeast don't correspond with the measurement originally given. Type in 19 servings and it adjusts the rest of the measurements for one packet of yeast. (It says an egg and 5/8ths of an egg on this setting, but since it worked okay with no eggs, I'll just try one.) Rerate later. . . Rerated version with eggs. Actually this recipe was much better for me without eggs! The rolls were very heavy even though I let them rise an hour. Also very crumby rather than soft texture as others have mentioned. I guess I'll do it no eggs next time!

Cola Sauerkraut

Possibly my fault, but I didn't like this recipe. Being from Texas, I used Dr. Pepper (no Coke on hand). It just wasn't very good. I don't think the use of Coke would change my mind about this recipe, though.
