About this Cook
Hi there. I'm 24, married to a wonderful man and we have an adorable one-year-old son.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking just about everything. I would have to say that I enjoy the thrill of tackling new or very challenging recipes best of all.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Swedish tea rings on Christmas morning, my great-great grandmother's recipe for dressing prepared only on Thanksgiving, baking and decorating Christmas cookies with my Mom and now my son, deviled eggs on Easter, making my sloppy birthday cakes for loved ones (I can't cake decorate to save myself, but they're yummy), and anything made from the love I have for my family and friends. Those are a few of my favorite things. Cooking is a passion for me that is sparked by the love I feel for my family. Having my loved ones enjoy the fruits of my culinary abilities is one of my main joys in life.
My cooking triumphs
There have been many triumphs, but the crowing glory was perfecting a meatloaf, my husband's favorite dish, that he swears is better than his mother's. Of course we'll never tell her that. ;)
My cooking tragedies
There have been many of these, too. Cooking is a learning experience for all of us. For example, earlier this evening I was making date pudding for Thanksgiving and I always forget to leave a little extra room at the top so that it won't boil over while baking. It boiled over and the house filled with brown sugary smoke. I know I'll forget next year, too. LOL. But I tried it and it still tastes fantastic!

Applesauce Bars
I made this recipe exactly as stated, and it turned out truly delicious. Made them yesterday and between my husband, son, and a couple friends, the whole thing is gone. YUM! A new fall favorite! This recipe turned out great just the way it was.

Basic Microwave Risotto
Very tasty, very quick and very easy. I stirred in a bit of half-and-half at the end and it was creamy and delicious! My two-year-old is currently scarfing down seconds, which tells you everything right there. Yum!
