About this Cook
My name is Kelly and I'm a stay at home mom of one six year old daughter. I love to cook, especially around the Holidays. I like to bring something new and exciting to every family get together. I breed and raise show fish which takes up a lot of my time but I enjoy it. It's a great hobby. I'm a huge animal lover.
My favorite things to cook
Being the mother of a young, picky eater, I feel very limited as to what I can try sometimes. I take advantage of every opportunity I get to cook for "big people". I love trying all sorts of vegetable recipes. As for meat I've not dabbled too much outside of chicken, pork and beef, I've recently began to try all sorts of baked fish recipes, since fish is a hit around here lately.I have to go with the majority in the house. I truly enjoy baking pies and cakes, cookies etc. I've found so many wonderful recipes here at allrecipes.com, I don't know what I'd do without it! Some of favorite recipes I've found include the flower petal chocolate pie, green bean bundles (!)and my all time favorite, the corned beef with the apricot sauce. Oh baby!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Having my own family now I have tried to structure some of our own traditions over the years. My favorite to date is making Christmas cookies for Santa with my daughter a couple of days before Christmas, I don't know how much longer the "for Santa" part will last, but may the tradition go on for years to come.
My cooking triumphs
I feel as though I've come a long way since I got my very first kids cook book at the age of 10 (still have that! Still use some of the recipes, even!) There is still so much more to learn though and I am by no means a gourmet cook. Sometimes I lack imagination when it comes to starting something from scratch but somehow it always comes together in the end.
My cooking tragedies
Learning the hard way that you can NOT pour cold water into a hot glass dish.

Pam's Bierocks
Alright, I have been dying to review this recipe since only hours ago when I found it. I searched yeast and ground beef because it sounded good and this recipe came up, I'd never heard of such a thing before! These were just wonderful after tweeking with the filling a bit. I added the typical garlic, wors sauce, seasonings etc, and half a can of tomato soup to give it a sauciness. Very good! Next time I'm going to do a cubed pepperoni, mozzarella and sauce combo. Delicious!

Roast Pork with Maple and Mustard Glaze
I love this recipe. Just tossed one in the oven to serve my MIL for Easter/birthday dinner, we'll see how she likes it! Even my husband, who "doesn't eat pork roast" has been raving about the maple/mustard glazed roast since I made it a few weeks ago. You'd have thought I'd done a magic trick or something, "Maple and mustard?! Who knew?" Anyway, I've made this three times now and I use pancake syrup. Shoot me! pure maple is really expensive and ime the pancake syrup works, too.

T Bird's Beef Jerky
I've tried this recipe several times over the last couple of months and it's perfect. I personally don't add the entire teaspoon of hot sauce, barely a half tsp I would guess. For some strange reason it always comes out slightly different, but always good! It barely lasts a few days around here. Just a little sidenote: I dump my marinated meat into a colander and then lay it out on sheets of paper towels before putting it in the oven. This speeds up the drying time without altering the flavor. I didn't do this with my first batch and it molded after the second day (not that there was much left)so I've since done the pre-dry drying and it works a charm. I've even used cheaper clearance meat and made this jerky for my dogs with less salt and no hot sauce.
