The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies
I haven't made rolled sugar cookies since I was a child with my mother. She had the BEST sugar cookie recipe from an old cookbook she received as a wedding gift...unfortunately the recipe book has gone missing. So I found this site while searching for an excellent SOFT rolled sugar cookie. After reading all the rave reviews on this recipe, I decided to give this one a try.
Like another reviewer, I added an additional cup of sugar and an additional tsp of vanilla. Let me tell you, these cookies were a HIT!!!!! They are so good. Nice and soft, thick and fluffy and nice and sweet. They rolled easily, baked perfectly and my family ate every last one of them. These will be made at every holiday from now on!
My 4 yr old daughter and 3 yr old son and my husband had a wonderful time making these cookies with me. This has become a new tradition in our household.
Oh, I also paired the cookies with a frosting recipe found here.. Butter-Icing-for-Cookies.Very good icing...hardens on the top so you can stack the cookies yet still soft when you take a bite. Although the icing does not turn out white (from the vanilla) so it is best to use food coloring along with it. But quick and easy to make and tasted yummy with these cookies!
I am NOT a baker (I prefer to cook dinners etc) but I had no challenges with this cookie recipe and with the icing recipe.
