Mother of 2 young daughters. Self proclaimed vegetarian since age 4, though I eat dairy I am still learning to keep other animal products out of my food(rennet? gelatin? lard? ah!). married to a carnivore of a man, so we rarely make meals that we both eat all of.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta, any veggies on the grill, potatoes. I like throwing together Mexican food or a good salad, though I am no expert at this.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother is a fantastic cook who still tries to sneak me chicken broth and believes fully in full-fat ingredients, so learning to adapt her recipes to my lifestyle has been a great and fun challenge.
My cooking triumphs
Learning to work within Weight Watchers "points" to lose 40 pounds. Unfortunately, all my best recipes include heavy cream . . .
My cooking tragedies
My husband is too nice to mention it, but probably making him chili when we first started dating. Clearly I couldn't taste it, what with the meat, so I don't know how it turned out, except for that his first question was "how much salt did you put in here?" I don't even try to do meat dishes anymore. I also have a knack for ALWAYS burning the garlic bread . . .
