About this Cook
I grew up learning to cook, my grandmother and I used to just hang out in the kitchen sometimes. My mother is also a very good cook and I am lucky enough to inherit such traits!
My favorite things to cook
Mostly I love recreating the african foods I learned to love while living in West Africa. I also love inventing things from ingredients I happen to have on hand.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother's slow cooker Thanksgiving Dressing...people ask for it every year and our immediate family alone could eat two crock pots full!
My cooking triumphs
My latest was a chicken-green salsa-cream cheese-cilantro baked masterpiece...I just threw it all together and tra-laa! It was fantastic!
My cooking tragedies
My alltime tragedy-as my college housemates still love to remind me-was the gravy I decided to make when I had just finished making lemon-pepper pork chops...let's just say, mashed potatoes with lemon-pepper gravy will not be the newest item on the grocery shelf!

Charleston Breakfast Casserole
So easy! Co-workers LOVED it and I thought it turned out great. Was a little different than most recipes I've found and in my book, different is always good.

Spicy Coconut and Lime Grilled Shrimp
My Housemates loved this. I thought it was good but couldn't really taste enough coconut. Next time maybe I would add coconut milk to thin out the marinade (was really thick!) and give an extra coconut kick.

Pumpkin Turkey Chili
I followed most of the suggestions of adding corn, black beans, green chilies, etc...and it was fantastic! My housemates had their doubts when I told them the name...I think they finished it off before I could have any leftovers.
