Me and my husband
About this Cook
Im 26 years old (2006). I'm greek and love greek food. I am married. My husband is from Puerto Rico and we both share a passion for cooking and food. We love all types of food from Puerto Rican, Greek, Italian, etc.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I also love cooking in general. I love to cook all types of different food and sometimes am quite surprised at what can be home made. I would say my favorite is baking cakes, cupcakes and cookies. But I try to share the same passion with cooking food as well. I always hear that I should open my own bakery one day. Maybe I will! OH, and I love making breakfast. I'm really good at it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family traditions are cheese pies, spinach pies, lemon potatoes and of course lamb on Easter. Don't forget the Feta cheese. We cook outside with the lamb on the fire pit turning for hours while my Father watches over it with a beer and constantly pouring lemon/seasoning over it and in the end making it taste so tender and delicious.
My cooking triumphs
Rice. Finally when I learned how to make rice!!! Now, I make all kinds of rice and it really pleases my husband since he loves rice so much.
My cooking tragedies
Let's see.... I can't really think of any. I've definitely burned rice a few times and had to make it over, but I can't really think of anything else.

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting
Excellent! Makes alot! I had to throw 1/2 of mine away. I used 1 cup of shortning and 1 cup (2 sticks) of unsalted butter (suggested by someone on the site AND I didn't have 2 cups of shortning) Came out fabulous. Also, I put 1 cup of Whipping cream and that seemed to be enough, so I just stopped there. It could've been that I was light on the powdered sugar to try to even out that I didn't have a full cup of shortning. Regardless, this is a great recipe. For one layer of the cake, I added coffee liqeur on the cake and the frosting, delicious!!!
