I LOVE good food! I am a true foodie. The first thing I wonder about when I'm going to travel is where the best food is located - and then I research it. I've been cooking since I was 4 years old. I insisted I could do it myself and my first dish was scrambled eggs (with my mother nearby to supervise). She doesn't like cooking so I think she was thrilled when she learned I did!
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy making traditional Danish recipes, ethnic and American Southern and Midwestern comfort foods (yummy macaroni and cheese, fruit cobblers, casseroles, potato dishes, BBQ etc.). I will cook or eat most any vegetarian dish - including those with tofu. I relish a good dessert. Aside from that, there is always something Italian or Asian in my repertoire and there always will be.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have a wonderful Danish husband - I'm American. I've learned to cook his favorite Danish recipes as well as other traditional Danish fare with the help of my darling mother-in-law. I love cooking for those dear to me. I hope one day to hold an American Thanksgiving, since we of course don't have Thanksgiving here in Denmark.
My cooking triumphs
Any dinner party or gathering where everyone loves the food I make, feels like a triumph to me...or with just an ordinary weeknight dinner. :) I've become known for my homemade lasagne, which even the pickiest devour!
My cooking tragedies
Well my first attempt at making a cheese sauce ended with something reminiscent of rubber cement...I would've only been mildly surprized if it tasted like it too. Some overcooked pasta once in awhile (ew) and a few burnt things.
