Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
These were ok.They did not raise like i would have liked them to.The flavor was good but they were a bit on the dry side & not very fluffy.I think i will work on this one a bit to them moister & rise alot more. I do believe it has great potential with modification's.

Denver Omelet Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
This was super easy and very tasty! I did add 2 more eggs it just did not look like enough to fill my pie plate.I used turkey bacon instead of the ham ( that's what i had on hand) & Used egg beater's inplace of the egg's.I did put the hashbrowns on the bottom and bake untill they were alomost done than added the egg filling.Turned out perfectly! My kid's even liked it and my oldest does not like egg's or egg beater's!My Dad loved it also and they could not tell it was egg beater's instead of egg's! I will be making this again! Sprayed the pie plate with pam and i tell u it was super easy to clean! Did not even stick to the pie plate! No leftover's!Served it for dinner with a fresh fruit salad & whole wheat biscuit's.YUM!!Thanks so much :)

Colene's Easy Tomato Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
Very easy,Great base for a good veggie soup. After tasting the recipe as is(except i used fresh veggies) i then made the fallowing changes for our taste's.I added 1 small onion,1 Tbls minced garlic,basil,2 celery stalk's & about 1 1/2 tsp Oregano(total),1 tsp beef soup base, 1/2 tsp celery seed, 2Tbls small ring pasta.1/4 tsp pepper flakes & 1/2 Cup water...because the pasta & fresh veggies soaked up some of the liquid. It was very tasty on a cold rainy Autumn day & with 2 sick kid's at home today it settled in their tummies very nicely :)I will be making this again, Thanks!

Chewy Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
Just finished making these.I was worried they might be a bit greasy & i was right. Not so bad you cant eat them but just a tad.Next time i will cut back the butter(i used smart balance).Just a bit to sweet for my taste but that isnt the recipe that was me today i added a bit more by mistake, lol.I used chunky PB, added semi-sweet chocolate chips & PB chip's, i need to use up.I also used egg beater's in place of the egg's & all whole wheat pastry flour.Moist yet wee bit chewy.,YUMMY!I think i might throw in some oat's next time too. I will be making these again as my Daughter & Dad love anything with PB in them and this is a wee bit better for them than regular brownies & i can send them to school for snack & feel pretty good about it ;)Thank you!

Mom's Apple Fritters

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
Yummy! I replaced the white flour with Whole wheat pastry flour,Milk for skim milk,Splenda for the sugar & used egg beater's in place of the egg's.replaced applesauce(homade-no sugar with cinnamon) for the oil in the batter,Added 1 Tsp cinnamon to the batter.I grated 2 large honey crisp apple's (skins on) into the batter.Put the cinnamon/splenda mixture in a brown bag, placed the fritters in the bag & shook to coat.I also used my small cookie dough scoop to put them into the hot oil.Worked perfectly! They poofed out very well.A very nice size to handle for adult's & kid's.Very quick and super easy!Slightly crisp on the outside, moist, tender and fluffy on the inside.Great morning treat while we went on our Autumn walk!Great with Coffee! My kid's loved them.No leftover's,Alway a bonus! I will be making these again! I am thinking of trying pumpkin next time!YUM!!Thanks for a great recipe :)

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
I stumbled acrossed this due to the picture! It looked so yummy! Anyway i read the recipe & it is the same EXACT recipe i have been useing for 15 years only doubled for 13x9pan.This is the perfect brownie!! A great candy type top with a moist fudgy center! Just as any good brownie should be! Needs no frosting or pretty much nothing to dress it up.It is perfect as it is with an ice cold glass of milk!!Sweet? Yes, but isnt that what a true brownie is supposed to be ,sweet, fudgy with a candy type top?! YUP!If you are used to box mixes it might be to sweet for you. But, if you love a good old fashioned brownie this is for you!! PERFECT!!

Pumpkin Butter I

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
WOW!!! I used fresh pumpkin that i pureed,I simmered the pumpkin untill most of the extra liquid was gone. Then i fallowed this amazing recipe!I did cut the sugar down to 3/4 Cup white sugar & added 2 TBLS brown sugar(i also used splenda white & brown sugar).Other than that i fallowed the recipe.Turned out great!Super simple & nummy!Next time i will cut the sugar down to 1/2cup as it was just tad to sweet for our taste. But, that is just our personal preference.I still have a ton more pumpkin to use.So i will make a much larger batch for Autumn gift's for friend's & teacher's.I will be trying the larger batch in my crock pot to make it a little easier & i can do it while i am work! Thanks so much for an excellent recipe :))In response to those who questioned the safety of canning pumpkin butter, you should NOT can it. Instead, it should be frozen to prevent bacterial contamination.Bring your pumpkin butter to room temp & then freeze in a plastic jelly jar's (work's great)Thaw in the fridge.Just like with freezer jam!Dont forget to leave a jar in the fridge becuase you will want to have some for your family :))

Spiced Slow Cooker Applesauce

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
Very good!My kid's love it! I only put 1 tbls of brown sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon.*Tip* Lay a clean tea/hand towel over your crock and then place then lid on it.This will help keep the water from dripping back inside your applesauce.Making it less runny and a thicker consistency.I also do not mash up all my apple becuase we like it a little chunky.I have used apple juice in place of the water & it taste even better & you need no sugar or at the very least a lower amount depending on your taste.I am on my 3rd crock this week!My kid's just can not get enough of this applesauce! My mom even asked why she did it the old fashioned way when i was a child cuz this taste just as great and very easy to do,lol.I also keep my crock on the "warm" setting as it cook's very very hot and it is done within 3-4 hrs!If i am in a hurry & home from work i then use the low setting & it is done within 1-2 hrs(depending on how thick you slice/chop your apples). Thanks again for a AWESOME RECIPE :))

The Best Meatballs

Just finished making these for dinner.I had to test one! & they are great! I did use (ground white meat only) turkey.Subed out the water for low soduim beef broth & egg beaters for the egg.Used Italain seasoned bread crumb's,& added 1/4 cup dried minced onion.Used the beef broth to try and mask the turkey flavor and it worked out great! If i did not know it was ground turkey i would not have guessed it was tasted like beef! All in all a great simple recipe. With my changes i got the calories down to 335 per serving,Cholesterol 11.46! Which was what i was aiming for a healthier meatball with great taste! Thanks i will be making this again :)
