About this Cook
I'm a soap maker from south Florida who loves to tinker with recipes. I usually cook for a family of seven, so I love recipes that are large enough to feed an army and not have them looking for more food an hour later.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make desserts and good, old fashioned Southern foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Easter Bread and Christmas Cookies. Does it get any better?
My cooking triumphs
Creating my own fudge recipe! Nothing is better than knowing that it is exactly what you wanted and that YOU came up with it!
My cooking tragedies
Fried chicken. As someone who LOVES southern cooking, I have the worst time with fried chicken every time I try to make it. At this point, I'm near to giving up on the attempts- but I'm holding out for a deep fryer for my birthday, so we'll see!

Gramma's Apple Bread Pudding
Very tasty! Next time I will cook it a bit longer, as the bottom was still a bit too soggy for my tastes.

Savory Vegetable Beef Stew
This was a fantastic base recipe! I swapped out a bunch though; I left out the Italian dressing, instead I browned the beef in a little oil after coating it with stew seasoning and flour. Then I put it in the crock pot and I threw in one beef bullion cube and used the 'garlic and onion' flavored diced tomatoes and added the rest according to the recipe, although I cut the onion and bell pepper down- 1/2 of each. When it was time, I cut up the potatoes and tossed them in a Ziploc bag with some Italian seasoning, Everglades, Old Bay, black pepper and garlic powder, and used baby carrots instead of regular ones. I served it with hunks of fresh baked bread and everyone loved it- there wasn't a bit left!

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya
I made a couple changes, but this recipe was a *huge* hit with the family. Served it over yellow rice and everyone from my four year old to my mother (who is VERY picky) loved it!
