About this Cook
I am a budding writer. I have wonderful ideas but terrible grammar. I recently was told I had a large number of allergies now my cooking has taken on new meaning. I have so many!! I gave up on a few but some I have to avoid or pain insues. The key work for me is moderation. My husband enjoys me re-learning how to cook as I have not found many bad ones on this site. I have found bad recipes on others and always come back here.
My favorite things to cook
I like to have the vegetable create the meal. Lots of veges from my garden define the dish. I used to love to make bread but recently I have found I am allergic to wheat. Not as much fun anymore figuring the right mix of none wheat flour.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother was a natural cook. She never measured she would smell the additions. She taught me to use spices she would mix some you would never expect. Her pasta dishes were excellent I have changed them up a bit but I never measure either(for sauces). One day I will write down the pasta dishes and share.
My cooking tragedies
A boyfriend I had when I was 21 Loved German Chocolate Cake. I wanted to make my first cake from scratch. I used self rising flour and added baking soda=( . I made the best frosting from scratch. Well the bubbling started and I hoped it would just bubble off and the remainer would taste good. Well the last time I opened the door I had a fire in the oven. For his birthday my boyfriend got to clean the fire baked German Chocolate Cake from the oven.

Tasty Collard Greens
These were good I threw everything in a crock pot and used afew hot peppers instead of flakes. Cooked until tender 8 hours on low. Note I cooked turkey leg by itself for an hour picked of skin and removed grisel. Put clean bone back in so I didn't have and sharp objects in the collards.

Southwest Chicken
I used this for a base recipe as hubby and I are on a diet. I just threw most of the ingredients in a dutch oven. I had no beans but will use next time. I I did not use oil and crushed three small home grown tomatoes and added a yellow bell, green bell and a hot chili. Had some fresh parsley about to go bad so I throw that in with garlic sea salt and pepper. Hubby loved was filling and low calorie.
