Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
Sorry you all, this just wasn't worth the bananas! Because of the rating I thought I'd try it, but to mine and my family's dissappointment it couldn't hold a candle to Grandma's Banana Bread recipe from this site. If you want a super moist, yummy, sweet, banana bread try that one...you won't be sorry that you did!

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
Love this recipe! Super moist, with much better flavor then a box mix. So easy! I'll never make another chocolate cake recipe again! Don't use less water...you get crispy edges.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
They were good, but from all the hype I had high expectations that weren't met. I made them twice, once as written, the second time with canola oil. There wasn't much difference only I feel it makes them not quite as bad for you. But will still keep looking for brownie nirvana. Update: the recipe on the back of nestle pre melted unsweet choc. is much better with some help...1 and 1/2 it, and add 1 cup mini chocolate chips. My family and friends were much happier with the result.

Friendship Soup Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
This was wonderful! I tried it with both beef and chicken, and while I prefer the chicken, my family prefered the beef. I just used left over chicken, and used the chicken bouillon. Very good. My one issue was when I rinsed the peas, lentils, and barly they did not dry well which caused my bouillon to absorb the moisture in the jar. It stuck to the bottom of the jar, so I had to add more when making the soup. Also I had to buy jars and the 2 pint size worked just fine, I upped the pasta to 2/3rds cup. This makes great gifts!!1 I also used a 15 oz can of tomato sauce, and a 15 oz can of diced tomatoes.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
This is good but I think I was expecting the 'Holy Grail' of pumpkin bread. It does have a very good texture and is nice and moist, but overly sweet and not enough spice. I'm making it again, cut the sugar to 2.5 cups and doubled the cinnamon, cloves, and added allspice instead of nutmeg, I have a few non-nutmeg people. I use 2 9" loaf pans and it works well, 65-70 mins. Update...use all the sugar and double the spice it is 5 stars that way!

Chai Tea Mix

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
This is wonderful!! I make it for Christmas gifts, and my whole family hounds me all year round for more. The only change is I cut the sugar in half. It is just too sweet for some, and individuals can always add more if they want it sweeter.

Grandma's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
This makes wonderfully moist, flavorful, bread! My family loves it so much that they will let the bananas go brown just so I have to make it. It does make alot, 2 loaves and 2 mini loaves. If i don't have buttermilk I just add 1 tsp of vinager to the milk. I also cut the sugar down to 2.5 cups. Everyone is always asking for this recipe! Thanks!

Just the recipe I've been looking for! Great! I also used oreos, and seedless rasberry jam. It really made this a very easy recipe. Try it you won't be dissappointed!

Chicken Andouille Gumbo

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
This is a great dish! Don't let it intimadate you. I use chicken breast instead of awhole chicken. Smoked sausage instead of andouille, because the andouille is really too spicy for my young children, and shrimp. I also don't use the file powder, and I still get rave reviews! It's my 'go to' dish these days for guests. Everyone thinks it must be hard to make, but it is really so simple! Thanks

Chocolate Cream Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2007
This recipe did not work at all. Good concept but the filling was nowhere near the consistancy showed in the picture. I wonder if the recipe was written incorrectly.Update, tried this again because the flavor was very good. This time I doubled everything, but the milk...used 1cup of evap.milk and heated it just warm enough so it would dissolve the sugar. Used it with a layer cake, split the layers, added seedless raspberry jam, warmed and sread in a thin layer with the cream on top, between each layer. Chocolate glaze on top...it was delicious!!!!My guests were so impressed and still rave about it! Definitly worth a try. and would be 5 stars if it didn't need any changes!
