About this Cook
I am a young cook who loves anything to do with food. I am a college student who is studying elementary education. I have been cooking ever since I was a little kid. I learned how to cook my first dish at age 5, it was fried eggs and toast. I learned how to cook from my mom and my grandpa. Growing up I would often cook meals for my family and was very supported in my culinary adventures.
My favorite things to cook
I love trying new foods. I like cooking and trying different ethnic dishes, anything sweet, gourmet recipes, vegan recipes, and the traditional mexican food that I grew up with.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother is a very good cook and made most of our meals from scratch. My favorite was her chocolate chip pancakes with peanut butter. They were awesome. I also love my grandmas homemade spaghetti sauce, she slow cooked it all day with delicious meatballs and chicken drumsticks. The meat was so tender and delicious.
My cooking triumphs
I am always trying new and different recipes, anytime I try a new recipe and it comes out good is a triumph for me.
My cooking tragedies
I can't cook rice. No matter how hard i try I can never get it to be fluffy and moist.

Thai Fried Bananas
I made these for a multicultural potluck at school. To make the recipe easier and cut down on costs i used instant pancake mix, substituting coconut milk for the water. I added the shredded coconut and a little lime zest to the prepared pancake mix, dipped the banana slices in the batter and fried. They came out wonderful. I served them with honey and lime wedges.

Banana Split Cake II
I made this dessert for a work potluck that I was required to attend and everyone loved it. I used a premade nilla wafer crust, 2 pkg cream cheese (as one review suggested), sliced pineapple that I cut up into chunks (I do not like crushed pineapples), magic shell chocolate topping (placed on top of the pineapples before the whipped cream), and I sprinkled the top with sliced almonds and chopped pecans. I mixed the banana slices with the cream cheese instead of layering them on top. The filling was creamy and thick and everything tasted really good. This dessert was very easy to prepare (I made mine two days ahead of time and put in the freezer) just be careful if using a premade crust they are very fragile.

Scrambled Egg Brunch Bread
I made this recipe for a mothers day brunch that I attended. Everyone LOVED it, and wanted a copy of the recipe. I omitted the red pepper and had the deli cut the ham as thick as possible. I also "fried" the ham in a saucepan with cooking spray before assembling. I used reduced fat crescent rolls and egg beaters and no one knew the difference. To ease the preparation I assembled the bread on parchment and lightly sprayed my knife with cooking spray before cutting the strips. This recipe was easy, looks really pretty, and is great for parties or brunches. Thanks for the great recipe.
