About this Cook
Retired executive, now busier than ever!!! For a long time it was difficult to get over not being able to cook well, since other things in my life were seen as above average. So, I took the "bull by the horns" if you will and decided that this is something I know I can do. Although I didn't have a mom/grandmother/mother-in-law role model to show me the ways of the kitchen, the Food Network has been an incomparable host in my home. I got the guts to make things I never would have thought and have championed home cooking to my friends and family members. Cooking can be hit and miss, but it's nice to hit more these days.
My favorite things to cook
I like to bring baked goods to our family business and get the reaction of those we have employed for years. Favorite things would be soups, salads, Christmas cookies, anything with Nutella.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom would make a broccolini that was her own "recipe". She went by taste and no structured alfredo sauce. Something we really looked forward to. And, every year at the first snowfall, my grandmother would make yeast rolls. Delicious with melted butter and a hearty supper.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking triumphs- Homemade pizza. Never in a million years would I think to not dial a number and have a pizza delivered. Homemade can be so much better than delivery. Try it!!!! Your family will approve.
My cooking tragedies
My husband adores cream pies. And off I go to make a semi-homeade banana cream. Made the instant pudding/filling and placed it into the purchased pie shell. Cut it and it was totally wonky. I forgot to bake the shell. Well, I scooped out the banana cream center and served that to him. He said it was good. Don't know what I'll do if I mess up instant pudding.

Irish Cream Bundt Cake
Very moist and light. Baked beautifully in my silicone bundt pan- although I did flour and butter it. 57 minutes.

Beer Margaritas
These were really light and tasty. I actually expected them to be packed with more of a punch, but they were middle of the road in alcoholic content. Seemed as though everyone who had them at a Mexican Fiesta/Memorial Day party really liked them!!!

Lemon Pecan Pound Cake
Baked this for my mom for Mother's Day. She loves my pound cakes; this one in particular is a favorite now because it tends to be a bit dry. She favours dry pastry such as Stella D'oro or biscotti cookies. A very nice gift for someone you love. I really liked the icing!
