I can get a little obsessive. Last year my goal was to find the perfect sugar cookie and brownie recipes. I made 7 different varieties of sugar cookie, before committing to 2 recipes; 1 for drop cookies, 1 for roll out. Brownies were a bit easier, found it on my 3rd try. My rule was to stick to simple ingredients, so all those recipes w/marscapone are still awaiting to be tried....
Recently I'm interested in finding a solid elegant dinner menu I can prepare and serve to a good size dinner party. The plan is to try making a few different main courses (lamb 1st, roast chicken 2nd, some sort of beef 3rd) in the next couple of months, then once I have an idea of which I enjoy making and might be a big hit, I'm going to start investigating great side dishes to compliment the meal.
My favorite things to cook
@ this moment it's a turkey-chili-curry I invented a couple of years ago. It's easy, cheap and fantastic for re-heating @ work for lunch. A bowl of that w/ fresh homemade bread (from the bread maker) and some fresh pineapple for dessert. Better then getting take out.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love theme dinners. Finding theme and creating the perfect menu, music, decor, etc... Best attempt: Texas BBQ - killer. Weakest attempt: White Trash Dinner. Turned out good - just think more creativity is required.
My cooking triumphs
My best friend only asks that a cook and bake for her as gifts. Can't even wrap my head around that. :)
My cooking tragedies
Too many to count. My oven often doesn't work. Urg.
