Pumpkin Nut Muffins

We enjoyed these muffins. The texture is good, it is the right amount of sweetness, but the spice in our opinions is a little flat.

Kiwi Strawberry Smoothie

Reviewed: May 5, 2008
We tried this recipe similar to this and we were all very happy with it. I absolutely loved the way the kiwi seeds crunched in the drink. We are looking forward to using it again. The recipe we used also had 1 c. of ice with it. Likely a bit more strawberry (1 c.). We also just used regular vanilla yogurt since our fruit was frozen. Enjoy!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2008
Really good cookies. Even the dough tastes good to eat. The cookies didn't stay as soft for me. I ended up cooking longer as I couldn't lift them from the sheet (needed to let them set on sheet longer after taking them out of the oven... I was impatient and wanted cookies NOW, so cooked longer so we could handle quicker)... so that was likely the reason they weren't as soft. Good flavor. We like both hard and soft cookies, so being crisper was OK with us.

Apple Crisp IV

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2008
Taste is good, texture was a bit dry for our family's tastes. Apples also didn't cook down as much as we like in the time it was cooked. The crisp wasn't really crisp... it was more pasty in texture, likely too much flour or not enough butter. But taste was good as far as flavor goes. Just wasn't the texture we were looking for.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
I am rating on taste! LOL. We've made this twice and the taste, fresh, is wonderful... amazing even. But by day 2-3, if you have any left, the pie itself doesn't look as delicious as it did the first day. The taste is fine... we like it warmed up in the microwave. Dh just won't touch it once the apples look a bit softer and wilted... I guess with the lattice crust he can see inside! I add a touch of cinnamon, as suggested in the reviews... I LOVE this recipe, but my family wasn't overly impressed.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
It was ok. We ate them, but I guess we just don't like the cinnamony topping with a blueberry muffin. Our muffins also fell apart when taking them out of the pan. Now, my daughter made these and she is a good cook, but I'm thinking if they cooled in the pan, that would have worked better. We're still looking for a nice sweet blueberry muffin... without cinnamon and probably a little firmer.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
Very good recipe. It is sweet and moist. I am one that always wanted my honey or syrup on my cornbread, but with this recipe, I haven't always used my extra toppings. It's also great crumbled as a topping in my chili.

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2008
I've made this crust several times with our apple pie slices. We love it. It is a perfect sized recipe since I use a jelly roll pan and we like thick crusts. Any extras that get trimmed off make great cinnamon pie crispies, too. This crust has flavor. A nice compliment to a sweet pie, would be good with a savory pie, too. IT took me a while to get used to the egg flavor in the crust with the pie crispies, but we soon fell in love with it there as well. We just love the texture, it is flaky and melt in your mouth (as long as you don't work too long with it). Try it... it is a great recipe!

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2007
THE BEST! We love this recipe. Do not forget the pudding, it is what keeps the dough soft long after it's been baked. I even made some for Farmer's Market and customers came back to tell me it was one of the best rolls they have ever bought at a market before. I love the ease of the breadmachine and while I was skeptical over all the cinnamon (I am not a cinnabon fan!) I felt it was a great amount for the recipe... not too much to leave the flavor rather bitey, but enough to give it a good flavor. Dh loves the recipe and everyone we share it with... loves it as well.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2007
Sweet, but not overly sweet. A real nice dinner roll. I need a little more practice getting the dough to look nicer, but it went well. I put on a cookie sheet and double batched it for Christmas. My balls were uneven, so my rolls weren't the prettiest, but I got several comments over the taste of the rolls... Not the prettiest, but they sure taste good!

Good recipe IF you put the pineapple juice in instead of the other liquid in the cake mix. If you forget, it just isn't the same. *grin*.

Honey Wheat Sandwich Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2007
Very good recipe. I've tried other bun/roll recipes and have been so disappointed... this one was great! Dh didn't like the tops buttered, said they made his hands too greasy when eating a sandwich. I will opt to cool with a damp cloth over them next time to get a softer crust without the extra shine. (worked well!) But for taste and ease... it was wonderful! Thanks!

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2007
Very good flavor! this recipe is a great starting place for chili. The seasonings are great. I play with the other ingredients based on what I have on hand and it still always turns out great. I try to keep the meat/bean weight ratio the same... for example, I might use 1 pound of ground deer meat and then add an extra can of beans for the other pound of meat. I substitute home canned tomatoes for the tomatoes in the recipe. I used a can of Ro-tel in place of some of the tomatoes and the chopped pepper one time... still great. I did add a cup of macaroni noodles one time and it was less soupy...more thick like we like chili to be. I cook mine in the crockpot all day long. Makes a great supper and leftovers with cornbread! Wonderful recipe! My Dh loved it so much he made it at work for the other firemen... with the noodles at which they all squirmed, but he said no one complained and it was all gone with some compliments to go as well. This will be our chili recipe from now on. Thanks for sharing!

Grandma's Gingersnap Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2007
Taste is wonderful. Cookies came out a little flat and if baked too long made great gingersnap like cookies, nice and crisp. The soft cookies were prone to harden when left out too long, also. Put away quickly in a container. We will enjoy, but I'll keep looking for a thicker softer cookie. Thanks for the good recipe.

English Muffin Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2007
Very good. First time I let it rise too long and it dropped. The second time I let it rise just above the pan, maybe a 1/2 inch above the edges and it turned out very nice. I like to leave it to cool, then put in in a bag, the crust softens a bit overnight and I slice it the next day... the family says... don't mess with this recipe!
