About this Cook
I am married, mother of two and love to try new dishes that my family will love.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite dishes to cook are pizza, soup and stews, spaghetti sauce, quick breads and coffee cakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The usual turkey at Thanksgiving, ham for Easter and boiled dinner on St. Patrick's Day. Even better is the turkey soup and pea soup with the turkey and ham leftovers. I also make lots of pumpkin and cranberry breads for gifts at Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
My mom still has a picture of a cake I made when I was about 12. Looked just like the picture in the recipe book, vanilla icing with strawberries and juice drizzled down the side. I was so proud!! Now anything I make for family or friends that brings us together around a table and everyone enjoys is a success.
My cooking tragedies
Thanksgiving 2006, one month after my daughter was born by C-section. I was having some complications but was determined to get that turkey with all the fixings on the table. Managed to get it all done, but when we got to the pumpkin pie for dessert, which looked beautiful, something was just not right. Turned out I had forgotten the sugar which makes for one terrible tasting pie!!

Chocolate Bundt Cake
This cake is easy to make and delicious. I made this for a friend's birthday then had to make it for my family. Because it is such a large cake, I cut it in half using two eggs and baked it for 50 minutes in a 8" square pan. Make sure you use a 10" bundt pan for the whole recipe. Most likely bakers that had trouble with batter spilling over used the wrong size pan.

Asparagus-Lover's Stir-Fry
I loved this recipe with a few changes. Reduced 1 cup of o.j. to 1/2 cup, used 1 lb. of asparagus, 3 small onions and 3 Tablespoons of Soy Sauce, omitted the celery and orange peel. Also was out of cornstarch so used 2 Tablespoons of flour instead. Just enough tangy sauce to cover everything. Took 45 min from start to finsh, the kids loved it too, will definately make this again!
