About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Would have to be the recipes that have been handed down to me from my grandmother. It just makes me feel good to know that I am continuing a tradition that she started so long ago. I have learned so much about cooking from her and knowing that I will always have her recipes makes me happy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Is Thanksgiving, I roasted my first turkey by myself only a few years ago, And if I do say so myself it was darn good and juicy! I covet making Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners because I enjoy bringing the whole family together over foods we all enjoy and share fond memories of.
My cooking triumphs
My latest cooking triump is finally finding a chocolate chip cookie recipe that is perfect.
My cooking tragedies
There are too many to name really. I only recently figured out pie crust after many failed attempts. I get distracted very easily and am the queen of burning things when I use the broiler.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup
This was not terrible but I was just expecting something better with all the great reviews and near perfect rating. I followed the recipe without deviation, and even with the cheese, sour cream and tortillas it just wasn't that good. I even added some extra spices trying to perk it up and still pretty bland. Im sorry but I will not be making this again. This is a three star recipe at best despite its convenience.

Chicken Souvlaki Gyro Style
This was very good as is but I love to tinker. I added 1/4 tsp of rosemary and 1/4 tsp of thyme. I think the chicken could use a little salt or maybe a little garlic salt which is why im giving it four stars. I used a store bought tzatziki so i cant comment on that, but next time I will make it because of all the rave reviews. The store bought pita bread left a lot to be desired so im gonna try and make peppy's pita bread from this site the next time and will update with the changes. Also left out the olives, peppers and feta because it is good without all of the extras but Im positive they would all be yummy additions.

Buckeye Cookies III
Whenever i get a craving for a peanut butter cup, I make these. They are delicious and easy to make. The only changes I made was adding a 1/4 tsp of salt to the peanut butter/sugar mix. You can alter the sugar to your tastes and preferences. If you like a creamier inside just use less sugar and freeze before coating in chocolate.
