I am a 37 yr old stay at home Mommy. I absolutely love to cook! I have a partner of ten years and our son, who is the light of my life. Cooking for my family and friends is one of my favorite things to do. I also love throwing family friendly dinner parties for the people I care about.
My favorite things to cook
This changes with the seasons.. In the winter I bake a lot and make stews, soups and casseroles more. In the summer I grill and make salads and lighter dishes. I really love to cook all types of food. I guess my favorite things are the things my son helps me prepare. He is 3 and so proud when he makes something.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have been cooking as far back as I can remember. My Mamaw let me help her in the kitchen when I was a baby not old enough to really be any help. Food has always been a big deal in our family. Most of our family time was spent playing cards or cooking together in the kitchen and chatting. I am from a large German/American family and we all LOVE food. We would sit around my grandmas big kitchen table and roll oysters together. My grandma has passed on but, many of her recipes and methods will remain with me always.
My cooking triumphs
I catered a party for a non-profit charity event for more than 100 people and it turned out wonderfully. It was even last minute (I found out two days before) so I was very proud of myself.
My cooking tragedies
Burning things.
I have put things in the oven and lost track of time, on more than one occasion. It doesn't really happen anymore because I finally got an oven with a timer a few years ago.
