About this Cook
My hubby and I are expecting our first baby in March, so I'm trying to get a few good recipes under my belt before the little one comes. We love flavor! We love foods with herbs and veggies and onions-- ooh, and garlic! We also like to try new things, so every weekend I try to find one new recipe to try. So far, we've enjoyed them all!
My favorite things to cook
I'm a big fan of the slow cooker, because of it's convenience, but when I have time, I like to bake desserts! I'm a pretty good pie baker (though I'd much rather bake a batch of cookies.)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family never really cooked much. So I guess you can say that I'm a pioneer of sorts within the familial cooking tradition.
My cooking triumphs
My feta-bacon stuffed chicken turned out so good that I posted a photo! We also made a tremendous vegitarian lasagna that blew our friends away!
My cooking tragedies
Um, most of my cooking experiences for the first 26 years of my life....

Raspberry Lemon Muffins
These weren't bad. It is, however, imperative that you use berries STILL frozen. With my first batch, the berries had thawed some, and the result was a bright pink muffin that tasted overwhelmingly of raspberry. The second batch (berries still frozen) had a much nicer blend of flavores and a more attractive result.

Sprinkles Muffins
These are strange muffins. Very dense, with an almost rubbery consistency. I was on the phone with a friend when I tried them, and I told her I did not like them, as I proceeded to eat half the batch.... I've since eaten the whole batch and still don't know if I like them. But I have to give them 3 stars because my daughter did like them.

Chicken Tortilla Soup I
THis was great. I used it as a last minute way to use some pulled pork, so I didn't make it traditional with chicken. I was also out of a few things (Hominy, chile peppers). It still turned out fantastic! I omitted the oregano and used fire roasted crushed tomatoes. The flavor was unbelievable! Loved this for a basic soup recipe that I can throw any left-over meat into!
