About this Cook
I am 23 years old. I have a family of four: myself, my husband, and 2 daughters (all but me are picky eaters). I spend most time w/my family. They are my life and treasure :-) Otherwise I love to come up with, and find, tasty & healthy meals and treats for my family. I am also an artist and dancer(well beginning dancer). I LOVE(!) modern dance, ballet, and world dance. My favorite art, other than dance, is photography. I try to make time to work on my photography! I also spend a lot of time playing barbies and MyLittlePonies :-) Lol. Thanks to my daughters. :-)
My favorite things to cook
Anything that is sweet. I love to bake :-) And, I love to make sushi too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family gets together to make authentic tamales and enchiladas from scratch. :-) mmmm...yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, delicioso! Also, ever since I can remember we always bake for ALL of the holidays...mostly Christmas. I now do the same with my daughters :-)
My cooking triumphs
My family loves any baking of sweets that I do. Especially Soft Oatmeal Cookies (found on this site) that I make with whole wheat flour and splenda (shh). But that's so easy :-) And my husband liked some cheesy garlic bread I came up with instead of buying the pre-made kind, but that's easy too :-) My family also loves it when I cook up mushrooms that taste just like the ones at the Chinese restaurants. I still need to figure out the exact measurements for that recipe though, b/c I just eye-ball it.
My cooking tragedies
I once made egg rolls, but the recipe didn't say to cook the inside b4 frying & I didn't even think about it; they turned out to be absolutely horrible! And, I had like 2 dozen of them :P Also, I once made cake balls, and they tasted like soggy cake w/a coating of chocolate. Honestly, I think it was just the recipe itself, and I think some people just think it tastes great. But, not me!

Slow Cooked Apple Brown Betty
I used plums instead of apples & this was awesome! I was just wanting to use up some plums, so I tried it. I did add the 2tsp of lemon juice to the fruit still. I also only used 4-5 pieces of bread; that seemed to be plenty. And, like some1 else I added some vanilla to the butter. Other than that I followed the directions exactly & it turned out to be delicious! The bread was perfect; not crunchy, just moist. And, we topped it with whipped cream ^_^

Anna's Chocolate Chip Cookies
The cookies tasted great, but the pictures are deceiving. My cookies were cake-like and poofy, not at all like the pictures.

Cake Balls
I am sorry to say, I did not care for this recipe. As one other person said they are mushy, sweet blobs. The texture was a paste. I used strawberry cake and buttercream icing. I think maybe there's too much frosting? I was really hoping these would turn out for me. But, I just don't like the texture. Neither did my husband. It tasted like soggy cake with chocolate on top. I followed all of the directions right too. I even let the cake cool for about an hour.
