I'm a Firefighter/Paramedic in the magnificent city of Indianapolis who would rather see flames on a grill than in the workplace... If I could bake everything, I'd be set! To me, baking is a piece of cake...(Ha, bad pun! Eesh.) I did my first wedding cake last October, and it was a 3-tiered phenomenon. I'm really excited to do another one! I love cooking breakfast and brunch, because I can combine my strength with pastry along with my sweet luck with breakfast meat. I'm a big fan of crock pot cooking, especially in the fall and winter. My favorite food is sushi, but I'm not brave enough to make it at home, only because my ability to make sushi rice is AWFUL. Baking on weekends was my favorite. It usually went like this: Me: "Mom, I wanna make something." Mom: "Well, what do you want to make?" Me: (Non-verbally) "A mess." I can make a coffee cake that would probably make your grandmother cry. Sushi rice has me a little spooked. The first time I tried it at home, it was a giant, vinegary blob of goo. The second time, it was a giant, slightly vinegary blob of goo. The third time...hasn't been attempted because I'm afraid of the giant, not-so-vinegary ball of goo that will probably happen in my kitchen.
