Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
Great cake. I made the following changes: Halved the recipe and baked in 8in" sq for 37-40 min. I subbed strained organic greek yogurt for the sour cream and oats for the flour in the topping mixture (to make it extra-crunchy). I added in 1/2 cup mixed berries and it came out extremely moist/dense. Will make again.

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
These pancakes are amazing!! Great, fluffy restaurant quality. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because mine 'deflated' and I'm not sure why. The boyfriend said they are 'ridiculous!' I also added in cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla because that is how we roll :) This is now our go-to recipe.

This really tasted like hot buttered milk. I will continue to look for another recipe.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2009
I have been craving to bake brownies from scratch and find 'my recipe'. Well, after the trip to the supermarket where a box mix was purchased as our go-to brownie option, I decided it was time. My boyfriend sarcastically yelled out "Good luck!" as I easily pulled together this recipe. As I served up 3 of these with a very tall glass of whole milk, all the boyfriend could say through a chocolately smile was "These are special." Thank you, because now I have MY recipe.

Orzo Shrimp Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
This is our go-to dish for company. So easy and so flavorful!! The boyfriend told me he could eat it 4x/week. Modifications--I saute up some shallots and fresh garlic first, and we add organic fire-roasted tomatoes for extra flavor. The broccoli is the best part--soaks up all the flavor and 5 cups are definitely needed. Also, this dish inspired a girlfriend and I to dream of opening a restaurant called "Orzo Me." with all orzo recipes--until someone just opened a place a few months ago called "Orzo." .

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2008
Made the cake as directed, except substituted organic whole milk plain yogurt for sour cream. I made this for my boyfriend's birthday cake over Labor Day weekend, thinking it was just going to be for us two. We got an impromptu invite to a party, which requested we bring dessert. I only had made a half-recipe, so I ended up cutting it into itty-bitty slices, but complete strangers RAVED about how moist/chocolately the cake was. They licked the plate. Awesome compliment!! My go-to chocolate cake recipe hands down!
