About this Cook
I'm a married mom with a VERY busy schedule. My husband & I work long hours in the construction supply industry and teach karate 3 nights a week. I have 3 wonderful stepsons, 1 stepdaughter, an active 3 year old son, and a baby on the way. We've also got 3 dogs and 2 hermit crabs. Our life centers around our family and our faith.
My favorite things to cook
I'll try anything just about once. My family are not picky eaters, so that helps. I like to try different things, but favor anything grilled or casseroles. I love to bake, but don't usually have time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas is where the baking begins... There's always LOTS of cookies. I made the tried & true and always throw in a few new ones to keep things interesting. We give them away to friends & family, take trays to work, and eat them at home, of course.

Four Cheese Sauce
Make this tonight and it turned out great. I had frozen some heavy cream, which I defrosted in the microwave. I was concerned that it would get watery, but it didn't. I also didn't have the exact cheeses the recipe called for, so I used a combination of parmesean, swiss, smoked gouda, & feta along with a touch of garlic powder & black pepper. It turned out beautifully...which says a lot for me. (I'm not that good at altering receipes.) Put it over a comination of Radiatore pasta and steamed asparagus. The Radiatore pasta held the sauce perfectly. This kept my 15 & 3 year old boys happy with a new pasta combination. The other plus with this recipe is that it was very easy & quick to put together on a busy karate night for our family. Thank you so much for the recipe!!!!!

Sweet Onion Pie
Made this last night for dinner and it turned out wonderful. My husband raved about it, my 2 year old ate it (he left the pork chop & salad, but ate this), and I was able to eat it without it upsetting my stomach (I am 13 weeks pregnant)! I took some of the leftovers today to work and it reheated very well. The only change I made was to use evaporated milk in place of the whole milk since I was already opening a can for another recipe. This is defintely something I will make again!! Great recipe!!!!

Brown Sugar Smokies
These were awesome! I made a double batch of them for Euchre night a few weeks ago. By the end of the evening, they were almost completely gone. I prepared them earlier in the day and just put them in the oven before guests arrived. Great for playing cards since they were on toothpicks....didn't get our hands dirty :-)
