I make a lot of cookies and share them with neighbors and friends. This is, without question, my very most requested cookie. I do have a few tips of advice: First, the dough seems really sticky when you are just through making it, don't add any extra flour. Put it in the refrigerator for the suggested time and it will be fine. Second: Don't mess with the dought too much. I plop it right onto a floured counter top and pat it gently with my hands, roll it out quickly and cut it. It has been my experience that the less I touch the dough, the better the cookies turn out. Third: I always use butter flavored shortening in my cookies. Don't forget to add the 6 tsp. of water per cup of shortening, as suggested on the back of the Crisco tub. Fourth: Frost with Butter Cream Frosting II. I really think this makes the cookies the best that they can be. Enjoy!
