O.M.G. Best bread I've ever baked. Easy directions, perfectly portioned ingredients. To give it an extra flaky, crisp crust: before preheating oven, place a shallow pan on the bottom rack of the oven. When oven is preheated, fill pan with boiling water and bake bread as directed. Fried Apple Pies

"Divine" and "Holy COW!" were just a few of the reactions these tasty, flaky little pies received from my guests. The ratio of apples to crust was perfection, so there isn't much of a need to change this recipe at all. STILL...because I'm always tweaking things, I did add a tbsp butter, 2 tbsp flour and more spice to the apples (1/2 tsp cloves, 1/2 tsp nutmeg) while they were cooking. The results were tender, fragrant, tiny bites of bliss! A must try!

Banana Crumb Muffins

These muffins were a hit! I was a little nervous because halfway through preparation, I realized that I had run out of baking soda and had to substitute extra baking powder (1 tsp baking soda = 2 tsp baking powder). However, they came out so moist and so dense that you wouldn't even know it! I even added some blueberries to half of the batter and WOW...great recipe, I'll be keeping this one nearby.

Cherry Pound Cake

This is the most beautiful, moist, and delicious cake that made a great addition to my holiday baking repertoire. I took the advice of most reviews here and doubled the amount of cherries, and since I didn't have a tube pan, I used a pretty rose-shaped bundt pan and it made a great presentation. I also melted down a jar of cream cheese frosting and added the remaining cherry juice to that, making a nice pink frosting-glaze for the top.

Rhubarb and Strawberry Pie

This was a GREAT recipe...it came out perfectly tender and sweet. I followed the recipe exactly and ended up with the best pie I've ever made! Go with the lattice crust idea (as someone else has already suggested). I love it!

Mom's Warm Milk

Sooo delicious! I was always a little disturbed by the idea of drinking warm milk (sounded gross I guess), but I've had trouble sleeping lately and found this sweet recipe! Whether or not it works for curing your insomnia, this is a real treat! Thank you for the recipe!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

These were AMAZING...so simple to make, but you wouldn't think so because they look store-bought. I was a little nervous with the batter being so dark in color, but they baked beautifully. I used big Ghirardelli Semi-Sweet chocolate chips and upped the salt to 1 tsp...so delicious! They look like the big cookies you get from Starbucks!

Classic Peanut Butter Cookies

These cookies came out perfectly with the addition of a tbs of vanilla extract. Dense, chewy, and flavorful...I used JIF creamy peanut butter, sprinkled them with course sugar and baked them just until the tops were dry. Thank you for this simple, tasty cookie recipe!
