About this Cook
Working and going to school full time makes for not much free time. When I get the chance I do like to read as well as catch up on my tv shows.
My favorite things to cook
Home made pizza, pasta, and cheesecakes! :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Being from the island of Guam, BBQ (or grilling) is a big deal back home. Also making home made pork sausage which we call chorizo. I recently learned how to make that with my auntie and I hope to continue that tradition of making sausage and then passing it down to my children one day.
My cooking triumphs
Pumpkin Cheesecake and stuffed mushrooms have been good to me.
My cooking tragedies
scalloped potatoes on a large scale...it was not a tasty Easter.

Nana's Mashed Turnip
This was my first time using turnips and it was a pleasant experience. This was a great recipe and I will be making this again.

Pumpkin Cake Roll
Pumpkin roll turned out great! My cake did crack but I'm sure with a little practice I'll perfect it. The only thing I did differently was use pumpking pie spice and cinnamon then added 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract into the batter.

Refried Beans Without the Refry
Great recipe overall, I substituted 3/4 of the water with chicken stock and doubled the onion and garlic. I also added two bay leaves. I didn't add salt until the beans were pretty much cooked and even with that I used probably 1 teaspoon of salt as the chicken stock has salt in it as well. This recipe is a keeper and will no longer be buying refried beans in a can. This is a tasty alternative.
