About this Cook
I married my high school sweetheart 36 yrs ago. We have 3 children and 6 grandchildren(so far). The most recent arrivals were twin grandsons. So fun!!. We have raised our family on our farm. I have been a registered nurse for 37 yrs. and hope to retire in a few years. We love to travel and visit our kids, in Colorado, Boston and Chicago. I enjoy photography, scrapbooking, and sewing.
My favorite things to cook
I think my most favorite thing to cook is dessert, including pies, cookies and anything else that is yummy and rich!! And in the winter, I love to make soups-and try new soup recipes on allrecipes. I also enjoy slow cooker recipes. There is nothing better than coming home from a long day and having the aroma of dinner waiting for you!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother taught me how to make my first pie-it was peach and very good actually. I learned how to make pie crust, and to this day, I have rarely bought a pie crust. When Mom taught me to make cookies, she said always make 2 or 3 "testers" at first to see if you need to add more flour. I think teaching your children to cook is very important. It is a great time to be together and enjoy the yummy food at the end.
My cooking triumphs
I would consider my homemade pies my specialty. The way to your man's heart?-bake him a pie!!
My cooking tragedies
Why is it when you have to take something somewhere, it sometimes doesn't turn out like it usually does????

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies I
Simply the best oatmeal chocolate chip cookie ever!! I took others advise, added vanilla and 1/2 cup more of oatmeal. Mine baked for about 12 minutes and left them on cookie sheet for 5-7 minutes. Delicious!! Thanks so much for this recipe. This definitely replaces my old oatmeal cookie recipe!!

Blonde Brownies III
Excellent!! I just made them and they are delicious warm from oven!! I followed some of the hints others suggested- 2 1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp vanilla, only 2 cups brown sugar. I also baked them in 9x13 cake pan. The walnuts and chocolate chips are what make it a great blonde brownie!! Yummy in my tummy!

Tangy Honey Glazed Ham
This honey glazed ham was wonderful. I had a spiral ham. It was moist and yet nicely browned on the edges. I used a cooking bag. Basting the last 20 minutes with the glaze really gave the ham a tangy sweet flavor. This recipe is a keeper. I'll always glaze my ham from now on,using this recipe of course!!
