Small part of my garden 2008
About this Cook
We're home bodies, I garden, cook/bake 4 nights a week. I make the 3 of our lunches everyday then head off to work. We go out to eat on the weekend evenings. I work part time M-TH about 30 hours a week. On my days off I clean house, get groceries, garden work etc...
My favorite things to cook
No favorites really, my husband comes to this site and finds recipes, prints them and I made them. Most of the time it works out very well so thank you everyone who submits recipes!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Lefsa. My Grandma and I made Lefsa since around 1982 maybe longer. Then our daughter now 16 helped us many years. After Grandma passed away in 2008, our daughter and I are going to make it every year for our family. 2008 was the first year I/we Ever attempted Krum Kakas, because Grandma always made them. 1st batch great--2nd batch not so much....Live and Learn right.
My cooking triumphs
Canning Salsa and stewed tomatoes, it was really scary the first time, but now I think I have the hang of it. Alot of work, but well worth it.
My cooking tragedies
Almost always over cook pork chops. I've added an entire can of Chipotle to a recipe when it should have been 2 peppers from the can. When I first started cooking a recipe called for 1 clove of garlic, well I used the whole HEAD thinking that was a clove. Thank god for Grandma and my mom and Mother-in-law without calling them in my early years I would never have made it this far in cooking.

Frosted Banana Bars
These are REALLY really good. I add about a 1/4 cup extra bananas and always make a double batch. LOVE it, great way to use those bananas up that brown so fast.

Hotdish No One Likes
Instead of Tomato soup I added a can of cream of potato and cream of chicken. Then put in the crockpot with potatos, green bean, corn, onions, ground beef, salt and pepper. On low all day

Glazed Apple Cookies
WOW--I've made these for the last 2 years during apple season. BIG HIT, everyone loves them. Only thing I changed was that I used milk instead of half and half for the frosting and I put the frosting in a cake decorated bottle and drew lines on the cookies. Easier because these cookies are so moist they're hard to frost.
