About this Cook
I'm in my twenties and have been cooking since college. I mostly cook for my husband and I, but can't seem to cook for less than an army!
My favorite things to cook
My mom's recipes, basically 'meat on your bones' food, with a healthy twist. I love what I call 'winter' food, chili, stew, crock-pot dishes and pastas! You would think I don't eat healthy, but I DO! Wheat pastas, non saturated dats, only good oils and lots of veggies and lean meats keep my little family fit.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chili Mom's pasta sauce Stuffed mushrooms Homemade wheat pizza Chicken soup w/ matzo balls Split pea and ham soup Potted meatballs
My cooking triumphs
my chili my meat sauce (my Southern in-laws love it) Crock-pot Split pea and ham Macaroni and Cheese
My cooking tragedies
I can't bake to save my life! It's too exact for me, but my husband is great at it! Oh and making a chicken roast, for some reason, it's never timed right and I get raw chicken.

Macaroni and Cheese V
this was a really good recipe, closest to my mom's I could find on here. My suggestions are: use a bunch of different kinds of cheese, my favorite (pepper jack - a must, cheddar and mozz), but my mom will put in any cheese that is laying around the house, the pepper jack gives it a kick. I added about a 1/4 cup more cheese than they say. I like the addition of the onion, my husband didn't even notice. I use French's french fried onions on top instead of bread crumbs, croud pleaser. Overall, it's one of the best mac & cheese recipes I've seen on here, no canned cheese sauce people!
