Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
This chili is magnificent! It delicious as written, but can be modified to suit whatever mood you're in. I've made it with both ground beef and turkey and both work great! Usually, I will use one can of black beans, one can of white beans, and one can of kidney beans. I also use 2 cans of diced tomatoes with the liquid instead of the soup. If I want it spicier, I will add a few dashes of hot sauce and paprika, and maybe some green chilles. I always serve it with sour cream and cheddar cheese. SO GOOD!

Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
DELICIOUS! I have made this a few times already, and they come out perfect every time. The preparation is a little time-consuming, but the end result is worth it. I do parboil the cabbage... the leaves come off effortlessly this way! I omit the onions, but I leave everything else exactly as written. My boyfriend and I gobble these right up! Thanks for the recipe!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2008
This is incredibly simple and delicious. I did not use an entire jar of peppercinis; I threw a handful in and it was plenty spicy for me. I now make this at least once a week... my boyfriend and I love it!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2008
This had a good taste, but it was just so unbelievably rich, to the point where my boyfriend couldn't even finish it. If he can't finish something, you KNOW it's rich! I'm assuming the cream cheese is what did it in.

Fabulous Fajitas

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2008
I was a bit skeptical of the Italian seasoning on these fajitas, but they were lovely! SO easy to make and a nice, healthy alternative to the sloppy (and completely delicious as well) Mexican food I'm used to eating ;)

Roasted Garlic Cauliflower

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2008
I had never tried cauliflower (unbelievable, I know), and it was so delicious prepared this way! I didn't change a thing as far as the ingredients go. I lined my pan with foil because I always end up having to soak my pans for weeks after roasting vegetables, haha. I also covered the pan with foil while cooking it... I think that's why my cauliflower came out soft and not a bit crunchy as some of the other reviewers have mentioned. Broiling it at the end was such a nice touch. The cauliflower was slightly browned and the cheese was melty... I love this!

Black Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2008
Very tasty, very easy to make. I omitted the onions because I'm not a fan. I tasted it before serving, and it was a bit bland, so I kicked it up with a bit of red pepper and chili powder which complimented my Mexican main dish perfectly. Will be making this again!

Holly's Hummus

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2008
I looove this hummus! I needed a good hummus recipe that didn't require tahini, and this is it! I eliminated the olives, added a bit more garlic and about half a little jar of roasted red peppers. It was DELICIOUS, and there are so many variations you could make on this. I'll never eat store-bought again!

Chicken Apricot Bundles

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
I'm sorry, but I just didn't think these were anything special. I upped the amount of apricots, and I still couldn't really taste them! I thought the pecans would add a bit of texture and crunch, but they got soggy during the baking process. Also, the cheddar cheese didn't seem to mesh well with the rest of the ingredients... threw the whole thing off. Perhaps these would taste better if you used fresh chicken rather than canned and eliminated the cheddar cheese. My boyfriend actually peeled the crescent roll dough off and ate just that! Won't be making these again.

Apple Dumplings I

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2007
OH MY GOODNESS, THESE ARE SO GOOD! I have never made apple dumplings before, and I wanted to prepare a special dessert for my boyfriend (who loved them as well.) These were absolutely delicious! The biscuit dough soaked up the sauce without getting soggy. I did make the recommended changes; I used half brown sugar and half white, as well as cut the water down... I just added it until it was my desired consistency. I baked them for 15 minutes on one side, then 15 on the other. I added the sauce during the last 10 or so minutes of baking. I will be making these again and again and again... my favorite recipe so far from this site!

Garlic Green Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2007
I made these using frozen green beans, and it just didn't do it for me. They were bland and oily. I would assume just eat the beans plain rather than go through the trouble of preparing them like this. Oh, and the parmesan cheese was just an odd flavor to have with the beans.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
This is my all-time favorite party recipe! I don't make it in a slow cooker; I just put it in a casserole dish and bake it on 325 until it's hot and bubbly. This is a definite crowd pleaser and a must for any get together.

Italian Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2007
This recipe was absolutely delicious! I very rarely cook pork, but this was a hit with my boyfriend and I. I did make a few changes based on the reviews here, though. I browned the pork in a skillet first, then set it to the side. I then made the sauce (thankfully, I doubled it as suggested.) I didn't have any of the herbs suggested, so I just used 2 tablespoons of Italian Seasoning and some fresh garlic. I also omitted the salt because it was salty enough thanks to the prosciutto. While the sauce was simmering, I added the cooked pork to heat it back up. The sauce was so yummy... I served it over mashed potatoes and with a side of peas. I will definitely be making this one again.

Chicken and Bow Tie Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2007
I think this recipe is absolutely delicious! I was a little leery of using the cream cheese, but it was perfect. I did only use one container of cream cheese rather than two, and it still turned out yummy. After I added the first, I just decided it didn't need any more. My boyfriend and I both loved this and will be having it again!

Chicken Salad Croissants

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2007
I love this recipe for when I'm craving something different for lunch! I did make a few changes, though. Instead of relish, I chop dill pickles up and toss them in. I also added 2 hard boiled eggs, chopped. The swiss cheese is the absolute perfect cheese for this recipe... I was wary of it, but it goes perfectly. This is great on a crossant as suggested, but it's also delicious on a hard roll or in a wheat pita. This is a new yummy lunch favorite!
