I am an executive with little time for anything, however every night my therapy begins with "The Dinner Menu". For at least one hour a night, I get lost in the world of my tiny kitchen and cook for my family of 5. Its good for me. Home meals. Roast chicken dinner. Beef stew, Lasagna and all the fixins. I prefer to cook savory foods. Desserts and baking are to exact for me. Im a mad sceintist! When I was a little girl, my grandma would let me stand at the counter and help her make chicken and dumplins. She would cut each one with her pairing knife and I would take them a few at a time and put them into the boiling pot. I share this tradition with my daughters. Even though they are nearly grown, they always want to put the dumplins in. Im not sure what I should call my triumphs. I get about 10 call on thanksgiving from various friends and family, for my helpful hints for turkey. Of course I actually get those calls all year round. I love that people trust me. About 10 years ago I had about 10 people at my house for TG dinner. In the middle of the day my oven quit. When I figured this out, it was really too late. I tried to microwavethe turkey just to done. ARGH! At last we decided to make the best of it and on my way to the table with the slightly undercooked dressing, lost my balance,threw forward the dressing to make the biggest mess I have ever made with food. To this day we all get a good laugh about the Thanksgiving that wasn't.
