One clove of garlic? I assume that was a joke! I used eight cloves, and the juice of half a lemon to really brighten this soup. A toasted slice of whole wheat baguette scrubbed with a garlic clove, fresh grated parmesan, and a generous grind of black pepper was a satisfying and tasty addition to this soup! This soup is a winner, and truly warming on a frosty winter night.
