About this Cook
I started cooking at age 11 because my Mom was real sick and since I was the oldest, I had to learn to do the cooking. I'm a single Mom of 4 kids that I raised myself. I guess I could say that I've succeeded with 3 so far (out on their own) and just have one left to go. I've had the luxury to mostly be a stay at home Mom, and worked outside the home here and there. I love it when my grown kids call and say, "what or how do I do this?" for a certain recipe! I love this site and enjoy the recipe exchange and always get new idea's from you folks!
My favorite things to cook
I would have to say that I love to make Soup's, mostly due to trial and error. As well as my love for making desserts!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Now that my 3 big kids are older and have their own families, I love having Family Dinners to celebrate their birthdays as well as their spouse's. My Dad joins in and we have a nice huge dinner party with their favorite dinner as the main course! And always a couple desserts to pick from!
My cooking triumphs
I don't know what I'd consider a triumph because I don't cook allot of fancy foods like allot of you do.
My cooking tragedies
I think the funniest one was making popcorn with my 6 year old granddaughter in the whirly pop popcorn popper on the stove top. It ended up exploding all over the kitchen (my kitchen is really small).

Country Apple Dumplings
I made these with my granddaughter the other day and we had great fun. She loved making them and loved eating them even better! Everyone was impressed that she helped make them. Definitely a fun grandchild project.

Banana Trifle
I've made this a few times for big Family dinners and they ALL absolutely LOVE this!!! I even sent some with my nephew one time, who does elder-care, and the older man could tell/taste the real whipping cream in this and was in heaven over it!

Rhubarb Cheese Pie
Some of my family loved this, and some didn't. They weren't sure what to expect! :) It's almost like Rhubarb Cheesecake!
