Breakfast Casserole III

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2012
This is really tasty, although I added only 6 eggs. I peeled and cubed potatoes, then boiled them until tender. I layered everything in a baking pan and I threw in some other leftovers from the fridge to use them up. I will be making it again. Thanks for the great idea.

Marinade for Steak I

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2012
This marinade is quite good. My husband liked it and he is fussy about marinades. I fried my steak on the stove but in warmer weather I will try again on the barbeque. I threw a couple of cans of mushrooms in with the steak, drained them then cooked them. This made the mushrooms a little too vinegary so I don't think I would do that again. But the steak was tender and tasty.

Bacon and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
The only changes that I made was leaving out the cheddar. I also thickened it a little more with corn starch and water. It was excellent!

Old Settlers' Baked Beans

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2011
My husband really liked this recipe. I followed the suggestion of just using brown sugar and eliminating the white sugar. I also chopped up some leftover hot dogs and sausage meat that I wanted to use up. I used the crock pot for cooking it. This is probably the best baked bean recipe that I have tried.

Cheesy Chicken and Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2011
I followed the basic idea for this recipe, except that I made real scalloped potatoes with layers of potato and onion. I used mozzarella cheese since I didn't have cheddar. I also sliced up a kohrabi and threw in some peas as well. And I sprinkled onion soup mix powder between the layers and poured in a little milk. It was a hit.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2011
This is now my favorite zucchini bread recipe. I did as others suggested. I used half white flour and half whole wheat flour. I also substituted 1/2 of the white sugar for brown. And I used 1/2 cup of apple sauce instead of the oil. At first glance I thought that 3 teaspoons of cinnamon was excessive. But it was really good. My husband is allergic to walnuts so I added 1/2 cup of flax seed because I like the crunchiness it gives. Thanks for the recipe.

I love this recipe! It is best if made the day before or cooked in the crockpot. Even the grandkids love it.

Portuguese Bean Soup

This recipe is excellent. I didn't have a ham hock and made it with just linguica. Next time I will plan a little better. My husband wanted me to leave the potatoes out so I did. This recipe is a keeper.

Taco Soup IV

I used this recipe to use up some vegetables in my fridge. So, I added celery, carrots, green pepper & cabbage. I didn't have beef so I just used some stewing beef. The whole thing was put in the crock pot. It was delicious.

Super Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2011
I needed to use up a bag of oranges, so I put them through the juicer to make this recipe. I put frozen mixed vegetables in the bottom of the pan and covered with the chicken and sauce, baked it and served it over rice. It was tasty and has a strong orange flavor which we like.

Pepperoncini Beef

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2011
I added potatoes and carrots to the crock pot to make a full meal out of it. I was a little nervous about adding so many pepperoncini, so I skimped on that. Next time I will use the full amount. This recipe is definitely a keeper.

I used this recipe to make shepherd's pie, only I left out the ketchup. I made mashed potatoes with plain yogurt. It turned out good.

Cabbage, Potato and Baked Bean Soup

This is a great recipe but I wanted a little more spice. I added one package of Lawry's spaghetti sauce powder. I also added 1 lb. of pork meat and 1 large can of diced tomatoes. I cooked it in the crock pot. Thank you for the recipe. I will definitely make it again.

Turkey Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
My daughter needed to bring a salad to a potluck. We were low on ingredients to add to the salad. I came across this recipe and modified it somewhat. Instead of turkey she used ham. And she took a chance using vanilla yogurt instead of plain. The salad was a hit. The sweetness of the yogurt went well with the ham. Tomatoes were also added. Thanks for the recipe.

Deep Dark Old Recipe Bran Muffins

I like the flavor of these muffins. Since we always spread margarine over the top anyways, I did not think that being too dry was an issue.

New Jersey Diner Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
I love this recipe! I had green, yellow & red pepper on hand, so I added all three. Since I am not a fan of raw onions, I also cut this down to 1/3 c. I also used olive oil in the recipe instead of vegetable oil. I let this sit for 24 hours. Next time I will double the recipe. Thanks for the recipe.

Pork Steaks

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2010
I doubled the soy sauce and butter. I also added a tablespoon of teryaki sauce. Per other's suggestion, I dredged the pork chops in seasoned flour. I added garlic pdr. & pepper to the flour. I browned the pork chops a little in a cast iron frying pan before adding to the ingredients. I cooked for 5 minutes on each side and kept covered. This is a delicious meal. Thanks for the recipe.
