Basic Gingersnap Cookies by KKARENG4

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
Truly easy. I roll the dough out in powdered sugar. Once I ran short of molasses and made it up with honey, it worked fine! A simple glaze of powdered sugar, corn syrup, water and vanilla makes a good icing for these and dries shiny and hard. Lemon extract would be good too.

Buttermilk Pie IV

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
Should be called Sugar Buttermilk Pie! It looked great out of the oven, made an interesting crispy crust on the top, but seemed like too much sugar. I haven't tried making this before, only had someone else's who refuses to part with her recipe, so I will keep trying!

Pizza Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
Very good and relatively quick to make. I used whole wheat penne and spaghetti sauce with spinach Florentine), it made the dish visually appealing. I added Parmesan on top of the mozzarella. I sauteed the sliced pepperoni with the ground beef and drained it well.

Baked French Fries II

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
We liked them, although I agree with my husband that they could have been crispier. I baked them for 20 minutes and they were golden and crispy but became soft quickly. When I try these again I will go 5 minutes longer. I used an AirBake cookie sheet and parchment paper. I used a Ziplock bag to shake the potatoes in the cheese and spices, left-over cheese went onto the hamburger patties as they cooked.

Simple Time Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2009
I used bone-in chops, otherwise followed the recipe and found this to be very greasy. We didn't care for the sharp cheddar on the pork.

Simple Citrus Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
This sounds like a variation of Shaker Lemon Pie, which I have made and everyone found delicious. I haven't made the Citrus Pie yet, but I will. P.S. I wonder if the person who thought the recipe was vague/incompatible actually tried to make it!

Shrimp in Sherry Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I liked the ingredients but found that 1/4 cup of flour was way too much. I also adapted the recipe to make a roux instead of using the microwave. I had gone light on the cayenne and I should have used more, and the sauce needed to be thinner. It is something I will try again.

Flourless Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I made this for a family gathering because a relative is allergic to wheat, corn and rice. It was a hit, and I was asked for the recipe so the allergic person could make it again. I used Ghiradelli bittersweet chips and it was just fine, but I think you could use semisweet if bitter chocolate is too much for you. I wouldn't try it with milk chocolate, too mild. I used a square 9" brownie pan, it was very easy to cut into servings, and served sweetened raspberries and a meringue cookie on the side.

Bewitching Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
I wanted a quick chili and wasn't sure how to proceed. From the name, this was created as a hot meal after trick-or-treating, but it worked for my husband and I as a snowy evening meal, and with pleanty of leftovers that I am sure will be even better. I always play with recipies to suit what I have on hand, so the changes I made were minor. No tomato juice, so I just added an extra half cup of water. I used plenty of cumin, dried oregano, garlic powder to taste, and about a teaspoon of cayenne. I had used no salt beans and reduced sodium tomatoes but I did add the teaspoon of salt and sugar, which was just enough. I had no red or green peppers so I added about half a small can of green chopped chilies. Served over rice, tomorrow over potatoes! I only refraned from five stars because this may not be what chili purists are looking for, but we liked it!
