About this Cook
I am a busy family physician so my cooking is usually reserved for the weekends. A father of three small boys, I am looking forward to cooking for them when they are big enough to eat us out of house and home. My five year old is just getting old enough to get excited over some of the meals I prepare.
My favorite things to cook
I love to experiment with different Mexican foods, enjoy grilling in the summer and I am getting into braising lately.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom was a great cook but I never really appreciated her cooking or cooking in general until I was married so never got a chance to learn some of her great recipes.
My cooking triumphs
I still get a big kick out of every new recipe I try. Most turn out as well or tastier than expected but I enjoy the process even when the results are suboptimal.
My cooking tragedies
I followed one of the jambalaya recipes on this site without cutting the proportions to a more suitable size. It turned out great and everyone loved it but, despite the fact that four adults gorged on it, I had 8 POUNDS of leftovers, most of which are still in the freezer.

Turkey Posole
Ay caramba! Me gusta mucho! Left out the beans, pureed some of the hominy and threw in some tortilla chips which fall apart to give it a thicker consistency. Seasoning is right on. I'm sure I will make this often.

Roasted Tomatillo and Garlic Salsa
Excellent, but needed something so I added a splash of vinegar and some fresh lime juice.

Garlic Bread Fantastique
Great recipe. My whole family loves it. It is a bit on the salty side so next time I'll leave the salt out.
