Cheese Fondue
About this Cook
I love to cook and am currently studying towards my Personal Chef certification. I am married to a wonderful man and have a good life, job and friends.
My favorite things to cook
Anything and everything with the exception of game and liver! Our family is not much on sweets, but it works out because I do not enjoy baking at all. I also, love the challenge of eating something scrumptious at a restaurant and then coming home to crack the recipe.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving dinner! I live for TG! I wait in anticipation every year for TG to roll around. I start planning my menu in early October. I keep the staples that everyone expects to see on the table at TG but, I do try to add one new thing each year.
My cooking triumphs
I have a lemon chicken and rice soup that we simply adore, as well as a lemon chicken and garlic penne pasta recipe. I always try to come up with new ways of incorporating the flavors we love into new types of dishes. By far, my most requested recipe is my roast chicken, which can be made in the oven as well as on a rotisserie.
My cooking tragedies
Most all of my tragedies have occurred while baking. It just does not interest me and I do not enjoy doing it.

Cheesy Pizza Fondue
I did not care for this at all. My husband, who will eat anything, adores anything having to do with pizza and rarely makes statements such as, "I did not care for that", as he said when I made this foundue.

Reuben Sandwich II
This was quite good and I will make it again. I did rinse the kraut once and heated it in a pan before adding it to the sandwich. Also, my store does not carry corned beef as a general rule, so I used pastrami in place of the corned beef. My husband absolutely loved it, as did I! I do suggest either making your own 1000 island dressing or buying a very high quality brand instead of the standard ones.

Newport Clam Chowder
I made this recipe exactly as written. Although I found this recipe to be easy, and we all thought it was absolutely delicious, it did taste more like onion chowder than clam chowder. I decided to dice 6 slices of smokey bacon, frying it until crispy, and added that to the pot in hopes of masking some of the onion flavor and it worked perfectly! I will definitely make this recipe again, however; I will reduce the amount of onion and just use 1/2 of a large onion. I will also keep the bacon addition.
