I am a stay-at-home mother of two. My daughter is 18 and graduating next week, and my son is 3. I know, an age gap. I was widowed at 30, and later remarried to my high school sweetheart. I am so blessed to have found true love twice.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook everything. As long as I have a recipe, I will try. I consider to be especially good at desserts. I would love to try cake decorating sometime.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents were divorced when I was young, so I am reliving my childhood with my kids. I don't have many memories of tradition, so I am making many of them for my children. I love to cook a big Thanksgiving feast, and I love Christmas baking. Also, my favorite time of the year is Fall! I love cooking with apples and making warm, hearty soups and chili. There is always hot apple cider ready for guests.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking my first Thanksgiving dinner. Planning, shopping, and preparing a feast for my family.
My cooking tragedies
One evening about 7:00pm, my daughter told me she needed to take a dessert to school. Thankfully, I had all of the ingredients to make dirt cake. I put all the oreos in the food processor at once because I was in a hurry. While pushing all of them down with a wooden spoon, I accidentally turned it on. Since the dirt cake recipe doesn't include splinters, I had to scrap the whole thing. My daughter ended up taking a box of donuts from the neighborhood bakery that we picked up on the way to school the next morning.
